FAQ

What will the weather be like?

Lopez Island in late July is typically beautiful, sunny, and dry but can also be windy and cool in the evenings. There should be a mix of sun and shade throughout the day at the venue, and hopefully no rain.

Are children welcome?

We love your kids and they are all welcome, but we want to celebrate all night with you so if you can get childcare instead, please consider it!

CAN I BRING MY PETS?

Sorry, no dogs or other animals. James’ parents’ German Shepherd, Tempest, will not be in attendance during the wedding but you may see her around if you’re there Friday or Sunday.

What are we having for dinner?

Having gone against all advice and wisdom, we decided we would handle the catering of this feast ourselves. James is carefully planning a menu and our dear friend Masud will be executive chef. There will be a range of fresh and hearty dishes designed to appeal to any dietary preference including vegan and gluten-free diets. If you’re interested in helping out, we may need a few volunteers. Let us know!

What should I bring if I’m camping?

Tent, sleeping bag, air mattress/pad, flashlight, towel if you’d like to use our private outdoor shower, and snacks and food for your stay outside of provided meals on Saturday and Sunday.

What’s the bar situation?

We will provide beer, wine, cocktails, coffee, tea, water, soft drinks, and juice. The bar will stay open until we run out or there’s no one left awake to run it. Speaking of which, if you’d like to help out behind the bar for an hour or two, let us know!

What happens if I show up on Friday?

If you’re camping, you can come by anytime on Friday to set up your tent and then explore the island on your own or with other guests. James and Sara will be busy putting finishing touches on things for a good portion of Friday but if you’re on the island, please feel free to stop by and say hi, and maybe lend a hand. We don’t plan to do a formal dinner on Friday night, but there are enough cooks in the family you never know when some food might get put in front of you.

What should I wear?

We do not have an official dress code and you are free to come wearing whatever makes you feel your best. That said, guests are encouraged to be playful and expressive with their outfits, and come decked out in bold colors, prints, and fanciful dressy looks! No need to worry about upstaging anyone in the wedding, and all colors are on the table—including white, red, black—so please, put together something you love and you think we’ll love too. As everything takes place on a grassy lawn, select your footwear accordingly. If you’d like a little aspirational inspiration, have a look at the gallery below.
